Our goal is for you to have fun playing soccer on the beach. What a better location than at the World Famous Huntington Beach Pier. We have made the goals age appropriate and increased the playing time for more enjoyment.

We do welcome USYSA and US Club Soccer teams. If you are not from Cal South or US Club Soccer, please bring travel papers showing the players that are authorized to travel by that Team’s State Association.
Between matches go surfing, shopping or have lunch in downtown HB or right on the beach. .

Sand Soccer Tournament draws 20,000 to OC Beach

A sand soccer tournament drew 20,000 people to Huntington Beach this weekend, including one local luminary, Dean Torrence, of Jan & Dean famous musical act, who was dropping his daughters off at the beach so they could participate on teams.
While soccer is all the rage in California, sand soccer is quickly gaining ground as the hot new game. This weekend in Huntington Beach the beaches are swamped with sand soccer athletes in 148 teams ranging in age from youth to teens. The sand soccer tournament has been around for 16 years and was formed thanks to the sponsorship of Longboard Restaurant & Pub in Huntington Beach. Held at other beaches along the Southern California coast, two years ago the event moved to Huntington Beach. It has grown 66% in one year and this year occupied one-third mile of beachfront.
According to the sand soccer planners, Jeff Benbow and Sean Dick, this popular, fast-growing game has grown so much that they had to relocate to a larger playing area in 2008. With 2100 players signed up for Saturdays game alone, and an approx. 20,000 attendance on the two day event, the turnout has been simply amazing.
Played much like field soccer, the players enjoy a different texture of the sand, requiring use of specific muscles. The players run in the sand in their bare feet, or wear special sand socks. Set to the backdrop of the Pacific Ocean (with Catalina Island glistening in the background), the soccer players are enjoying mid-70s weather ideal for team challenge. There is more to come!

Please read and understand the rules (There have been some changes). And note: you will be sharing a sideline with your opponent. Please be on your best behavior.
We are using 2009-2010 players cards.
At check-in you will need: your application, printed roster, players cards, medical release forms, and travel papers (if necessary).
Check-in is 1 hour before your first match right on the beach.
To begin, click the Register button. You will create a user name and password that will allow you to access your application at anytime prior to the tournament.

Adult Divisions
We have an adult bracket this year. So all you U-19’s that aged out can have a reunion at the beach. There will also be a co-ed division for the adults.
Parents, you have seen your kids do it…how about them watching you play. Free substitution.

The Sand Soccer in HB Tournament has become part of a group of tournaments sanctioned by the Gold Coast Soccer Club.
The tournaments are spaced perfectly apart to fit your teams needs and budget.

Each tournament will offer individual discounts (if you play in all three tournaments), and multiple team discounts, this is another way to save money in this economy.
Here are the discounts:
One team playing in all three tournaments: This team will get a discount of $33 for each tournament. Note that the full discount of $99 will be deducted from the Surf City Challenge (must play a minimum of two (2) games at the Surf City Challenge to qualify for the discount). Split teams do not qualify (for Sand Soccer, since they already received a discount). You must pay in full for the first two tournaments, unless other arrangements were made in writing with the Tournament Director(s). In addition you must inform us of your intent to take advantage of this before you play in the Sand Soccer tournament by sending a message of your intent to : extremecup@aol.com
One team playing in two of the three tournaments: This team will get a discount of $25 for each tournament. Note that the full discount of $50 will be deducted from the Surf City Challenge (must play a minimum of two (2) games at the Surf City Challenge to qualify for the discount) or from Xtreme Cup whichever applies. Split teams do not qualify. You must pay in full for the first tournament, unless other arrangements were made in writing with the Tournament Director(s). Five teams from the same club or organization in any one of the tournaments will be handled by each tournament. Please contact the tournament director prior to registering to get the discount code. This code will allow each team to receive a $50 discount per team for 5 or more teams entered from the same club or organization.
